Bubble Watch – Shows To Keep An Eye On

At the moment there are 53 shows that have not gotten renewed. Here are what's being said about some of the shows that our readers watch.

Designated Survivor – (ABC) The series is expected to be renewed now that it's had a bit of a retooling and a new show runner added. Introducing a series about a president in the middle of a contentious election may not have been the network's best plan. The hiatus has given them time for viewers to be a little less burnt out on politics.

Once Upon A Time – (ABC) The ratings aren't what the used to be, but things are still looking good for the veteran series. The network is working on deals with Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle and Colin O'Donoghue… but a re-imagining seems to be in the works with the idea of bringing costs down.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD – (ABC) With the move to a later time-slot, the series has taken a rating hit, but because of it's unique position as a marketing platform for Disney and the money they make internationally and through streaming deals it is very likely the series will get another year.

Gotham – (FOX) It was a bit surprising to see Lucifer get an early renewal and not it's Monday night partner, but that was more because of tax reasons than anything else. The pre-Batman series is very likely to return as even their lowered ratings are still higher than many other Fox dramas.

The Exorcist – (FOX) Word on this series is mixed. It didn't get a back order, but the series was very well-received. There is some talk about it getting a second season, but it is as on the bubble as a show gets.

Sleepy Hollow – (FOX) This show was almost cancelled last season and is again under the ax. What might save it is sheer numbers. Fox only has 4 new dramas in production and may have more openings then that, meaning Sleep Hollow might be kept to fill a spot.

APB – (FOX) I wouldn't buy stock in Reeves Technologies. This is likely a one-and-done.

The Blacklist – (NBC) This is the third highest rated show on the network, every indication is that it will return. Though things are doubtful for the spinoff series, The Blacklist: Redemption.

Blindspot – (NBC) Delayed viewership is keeping the show in decent ratings, and a strong possibility to return, but it's not guaranteed. The network has to weigh the pros and cons of keeping it with the viewership it has or spend millions to market a new series that may or may not do as well. The series Timeless is in the same boat.

Taken – (NBC) No decision has been made on this freshman series, but meetings with the writers about a second season are happening.

Elementary – (CBS) is completely owned by the network and still performs well for them in international sales. The fact it takes up the 10 PM Sunday night slot may be the shows saving grace for another season and word is that writer's room negotiations are taking place.

iZombie – (CW) This series has just returned, but this is one of only four series to not find out it's fate yet. Odds are the series will return as it did this year as a late season entry.

The Originals (CW) The future of this series is not as bright. With its parent series wrapping up, this show may join them shortly.

The other two CW series that haven't gotten word are new comers Frequency and No Tomorrow. Neither are expected to return.
