Disney's Aladdin Remake Casts Marwan Kenzari As Jafar
Entertainment Weekly has reported that Guy Ritchie's Aladdin remake has found their Jafar. Marwan Kenzari is confirmed to be in talks to take on the role of Jafar. Kenzari has recently been seen in Ben-Hur and The Mummy, and in the upcoming Kenneth Branagh adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express.
Entertainment Weekly is also reporting that Saturday Night Live alum Nasim Pedrad also signed on. She'll be played the "newly created role of Mara, Jasmine's friend and handmaiden."
This comes on the heels of Disney announcing at D23 that they have cast Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Will Smith as The Genie. We currently don't know much else about the movie as they appear to be putting the cast together still. We do know that the movie is based on the 1992 movie but will also draw inspiration from "classic Arabic folk tales, and the city of Agrabah will be influenced by places like the Middle East, India, and China."
