DMG Demands Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe Webisodes Be Taken Offline Tomorrow

The website ComicBook.com has been hosting the Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe webisodes available for free and running them all this week, to much acclaim. But as of tomorrow, they will no longer be. All the videos will be coming down.

Explanation has not been given. But the most obvious one, that someone else has done a deal to host them, does not appear to be the case. Do not expect them to continue or be available elsewhere.

I did a little digging, and it seems the second most obvious explanation is closer to the truth. It has something to do with one of the film or TV deals not wanting a free version of live action Valiantness out there, doing its own thing.

Basically, Chinese investors DMG, the new owners of Valiant, hate it. The Sony people working on the movies are threatened by it. The person who liked it, and commissioned it, was CEO Dinesh Shamdasani — and while he was at Valiant it was safe. But now that he's gone, a requirement of DMG buying the remaining shares in the company? There's a scorched earth policy to anything his name might be attached to…

The deal had already been done for ComicBook to post these. But that's why they have rushed them through, one a day, and after that, gone forever. But Valiant has been repeating this on social media, almost encouraging people to do what they need to do to preserve them… somehow.
