First-Person Shooter and Horror Game F.E.A.R. is Getting an Adaptation
We have another video game adaptation on the way and it's another horror movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter screenwriter Greg Russo has signed a development deal with Machinima. The studio is owned by Warner Bros and they primarily make live-action and animated content for its digital platforms including channels on Youtube and Twitch.
"Greg is an inspired screenwriter who clearly loves gaming," said Machinima general manager Russell Arons. "To be able to bring his talents to Machinima Studios provides us an amazing opportunity to tackle action-packed series that are certain to appeal to our legions of millennial gamers and fans around the world."
Russo also worked on two other video game adaptations including New Line Cinema's new take on Mortal Kombat and Screen Gems' Resident Evil reboot.
"As a lifelong gamer, it's an absolute honor to partner with Machinima, the preeminent provider of digital content to gamers worldwide. F.E.A.R. holds a special place in my heart. I'm excited to bring my personal passion to this and future projects and can't wait to see where our partnership goes from here," Russo added
F.E.A.R. is a first person shooter horror game that came out in 2005 before the boom of the FPS and first person horror games. The acronym stands for First Encounter Assault Recon and a team that fights a power psychic child named Alma. There is currently no release date or any other additional information about the project or even clarify if the movie will be a digital short, a TV series, or a movie.
