Greg Berlanti Is Shopping Round A New Black Lightning TV Series From DC Comics

Nellie Andreeva reports for Deadline that DC's Greg Berlanti is shopping round a TV adaptation of Black Lightning.

DC's first lead black character, created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden, is planned to headline a new TV drama to be created by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, from Warner Bros. TV, Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions, and is currently being pitched to networks.

Written by the Akils, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he'll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.

You know, if this happens, DC to have a Tom King and Trevor Von Eeden comic book on hand, bottom-drawered, ready to go.
