Leave The World Behind: Mistrust Brews In The Official Trailer

Netflix released the official trailer and poster for Leave The World Behind, and this one shows the mistrust brewing amongst these characters as the world around them crumbles.

Netflix has quite a few big movies coming out in the latter half of this year, but one with a very impressive cast is Leave The World Behind. People love a good "The World Is Ending" movie because it distracts from the fact that the world might actually be ending around us in reality. This time, we aren't dealing with aliens or asteroids that will end life on Earth as we know it, but a cyberattack destroying our connections and the technology we are far too dependent on. So it's like Judgement Day minus the AI component. We got a new trailer today that gives us a better idea of what is going on during this story and the various levels of mistrust this group of characters will have as things go to hell.

In terms of quality, Netflix films are all over the place, so guessing how Leave The World Behind will be based on the trailer alone is impossible. This and the previously released teaser look promising, and maybe that will be enough for people to check it out when it drops on Netflix in December, should they already have an active subscription. Will it be enough to get new subscribers or get people to reactivate? That remains to be seen.

Leave The World Behind: Cast List, Summary, Release Date

In this apocalyptic thriller from award-winning writer and director Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), Amanda (Academy Award winner Julia Roberts) and her husband Clay (Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke) rent a luxurious home for the weekend with their kids, Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie). Their vacation is soon upended when two strangers — G.H. (Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha'la) — arrive in the night, bearing news of a mysterious cyberattack and seeking refuge in the house they claim is theirs. The two families reckon with a looming disaster that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world. Based on the National Book Award-nominated novel by Rumaan Alam, Leave The World Behind is produced by Esmail Corp, Red Om Films, and executive produced by Higher Ground Productions. It will be released in select theaters on November 22nd and stream to Netflix on December 8th.
