Imaginary is the next big Blumhouse movie for 2024, and today, a new fake commercial wants you to get to know that film's icon, Chauncey. The film stars DeWanda Wise, who is also producing the film. Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, Veronica Falcon, and Betty Buckley also star in the movie. It is directed by Jeff Wadlow, who will also produce alongside Blumhouse's Jason Blum and Wise. Wadlow also co-wrote the script with Greg Erb and Jason Oremland. The first trailer made an impression and has not left my head since it was released, so anticipation for this one is through the roof in my eyes. Check out Chauncey down below.
Imaginary Might Be Completely Terrifying
Jessica moves back into her childhood home with her family. Her youngest stepdaughter, Alice, develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playfully and become increasingly sinister. As Alice's behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be. Below is a new image from the film as well.
Blumhouse is clearly trying to set up Chauncey as the next M3gan, and I am sure after Night Swim, they want Imaginary to do much, much better. I don't think they will have much to worry about there, as this film looks way better in every way. What a hook, taking something like imaginary friends and turning it sinister. And Wise was an excellent get-in-the-starring role; she is supremely talented, and this will hopefully send her into the stratosphere. I have very high hopes for this, as I am sure theaters also do.
Imaginary will debut in theaters on March 8th.
