M3GAN Star Confirms Return and Shares Her Sequel Excitement

One of the stars of the popular horror film M3GAN confirms her return for the sequel while sharing her excitement about the next chapter.

This time next year, we'll be getting a follow-up to the genre hit M3GAN, which is now poised to reunite its surviving cast for more teen-friendly horror fun. But unsurprisingly, even the film's (confirmed) cast remains unsure of what the second chapter might entail. Here's what was said!

When speaking to Discussing Film, M3GAN star Violet McGraw was first asked about her potential return to the pop-culture-heavy horror film, with McGraw confirming the return of M3GAN's former best friend, explaining, "Yes, I am [returning]," the actor first tells the publication, before going on to add, "I'm very excited to film that… I am literally dying to know what happens… I'm just looking forward to [reuniting] with all of the cast and crew."

Not too long ago, while discussing the now-confirmed M3GAN 2.0 film with Empire Magazine, established horror filmmaker and producer James Wan teased that something big is on the horizon, sharing, "It's early yet, but [the character] is coming back in a big way. The first film came just at the right time [when concerns about AI were mounting], and we're definitely leaning into that on the next one. We're exploring the AI universe even further."

M3GAN Plot Summary and M3GAN 2.0 Release Date

The film's official synopsis: From James Wan, the producer of Annabelle, and Blumhouse, the producer of The Black Phone, comes a fresh new face in terror. M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a lifelike doll that's programmed to be a child's greatest companion and a parent's greatest ally. Designed by Gemma (Allison Williams, Get Out), a brilliant roboticist, M3GAN can listen, watch, and learn as it plays the role of friend, teacher, playmate, and protector. When Gemma becomes the unexpected caretaker of her 8-year-old niece, she decides to pair the girl with an M3GAN prototype, a decision that leads to unimaginable consequences.

Who knows what the deadly AI-doll will do next, but if she's looking to surpass her prior achievements, she'll need to develop a few new pop culture trends with a mild side of brutality along the way.

M3GAN 2.0 will arrive in theaters on January 17, 2025.
