NBC Orders 3 More Scripts For Constantine And Mysteries Of Laura
NBC has placed order for three additional scripts for both of their new Warner Bros TV produced series The Mysteries of Laura and Constantine. The script pick-up comes after three episodes of Laura have aired but well before the October 24th debut of Constantine.
Ordering additional scripts has become a favorite thing for networks to do, it allows them to keep the writing staff on and working, yet buys them time before having to place a back episodic order (the episodes to finish out a season).
NBC can look at the ratings on Laura and see that it's doing well and retaining its audience. With Constantine having not aired, the network is seeing that the series is tracking very well and has one of the highest awareness levels of any new series of the season.
NBC is the second to hand out backup script orders. The CW placed orders for The Flash and Jane the Virgin prior to their debuts as well.
So where this isn't a guarantee that the series will get a full season order, it is a sign that the network is liking what it has seen so far.
