Oculus Rift PC Requirements Revealed And You'll Need Some Decent Kit
I'm always very careful when it comes PC spec breakdowns, because, while owning a very competent computer for gaming, I don't know, in a technical sense, that much. I have short hand of how to read graphics cards and I know 8GB of ram is decent, but I'm sure many of you surpass my knowledge of PC specs so I try to avoid commenting on them.
Having said that, Oculus released the recommended requirements for the Rift and I'm intrigued. That is interesting and I want to throw it out to you guys. They are as follows:
NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
8GB+ RAM
Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
2x USB 3.0 ports
Windows 7 SP1 or newer
As I said, I'm not on expert on this, but it seems like you will need a decent PC to run the device. I don't quite know how these recommendations interact with the games it's playing either. Surely if you are playing a graphic intensive game with the Oculus Rift, these requirements will increase substantially.
I'm happy to say I'm in the dark a little here, so maybe more of you can make sense of this. I know I have the set-up to run thw device, but put a heavily modded Skyrim on top of that? I'm at a loss. I'd love to hear from you if you have an better idea how this works.
Thanks to VG247 for the heads up!
