Patty Jenkins Thinks 'Wonder Woman' Came At The Right Time
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins was on Conan tonight and they spoke about the mass appeal of the movie. Conan mentioned how rare it is that something can truly cross generational lines. He asked Jenkins if she thought the movie hit at the perfect time, that "we need right now a movie where a woman just completely kicks ass and takes over the world." Jenkins laughed and agreed.
I totally feel that way. It's amazing because it feels like a long time coming. I wish the movie had happened a long time ago for many other reasons but it feels like it hit this perfect pocket and I've loved that people have embraced it for that reason. And also, even the fact that Wonder Woman stands for love and truth is hitting home really hard. She's a superhero for everyone but she stands for "Great, I'm an incredible badass, I can do all of these things, but it's actually not what I'm here for. I'm here to inspire you. That being a hero is something more than that, that believing in love, believing in the betterment of mankind, is amazing." So all of that.
Check out the full interview with Jenkins below.
