Robert Pattinson Discusses His Batman Filming Experiences
Robert Pattinson is just over a month away from his major cinematic debut as Batman for DC and Warner Bros., with a lot of hype behind this new adaptation of the character. Throughout the years, several men have donned Batman's costume (with quite the variety to each adaptation), and each experience comes with its own obstacles. According to Pattinson, the actor found his own time in the cowl a little lonely due to filming protocols and wardrobe.
In a new profile over at GQ, Pattinson tells the publication that the set was a "bubble within a bubble" before elaborating, "And the nature of the shoot was so kind of insular, always shooting at night, just really dark all the time, and I felt very much alone. Even just being in the suit all the time. You're not really allowed out of the studio with the suit on, so I barely knew what was going on at all outside. I'd be in the tent just making ambient electronic music in the suit, looking over the cowl."
Considering there's another Batman making an exciting return in The Flash and Batgirl, perhaps Pattinson won't have to be an isolated Batman for much longer. The highly anticipated Batman resurgence includes a synopsis that teases: "When the Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement."
In addition to Pattinson (The Lighthouse, Twilight) as the titular hero, the film features an all-star cast of Zoë Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Catwoman, Paul Dano (12 Years a Slave), Colin Farrell (True Detective), Jeffrey Wright (No Time to Die), John Turturro (the Transformers franchise), Peter Sarsgaard (The Magnificent Seven), Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor), and Andy Serkis (Black Panther).
The Batman will be released exclusively in theaters on March 4, 2022.
