Star Wars: Episode IX Gets A New Writer
There is a lot of smoke when it comes to Star Wars these days. As everyone continues to try and convince us that there is nothing wrong with the Han Solo movie now The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Star Wars: Episode IX has gotten a new writer. THR is reporting that Jack Thorne, the writer for the upcoming movie Wonder, has been brought on to work on the script for the third movie in the new trilogy.
The previous version of the script was worked on by director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly based on a treatment by The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. The last project that Treverrow worked on was critically and commercially panned which has thrown his credibility to handle a Star Wars project into question. Whether or not this is a reaction to The Book of Henry or just a normal set of script re-writes we probably won't know for some time.
Thorne's other writing and creating contributions also include several British television shows including The Fades, The Cast-Offs, The Last Panthers, and National Treasure along with the upcoming BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials and Philip K. Dick's Electric Sheep.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for a May 24, 2019 release date and is set to start projection early next year.
