Ubisoft's Grow Home Features Procedurally Generated Climbing
Ubisoft are one of the best AAA studios bringing 'indie-like' games to the market. Last years Child of Light was a prime example and these smaller projects really add diversity and quality to the studio's portfolio.
In that vain, Ubisoft have announced Grow Home, a game where you play as botanically interested droid, BUD as you climb a mysterious beanstalk-like plant. On Ubiblog, the game was described as thus:
Grow Home is the story of BUD, a Botanical Utility Droid sent on a mission across the galaxy to seek out a new species of flora to help oxygenate his home world. He finds the perfect specimen in the Star Plant. "We think of the Star Plant like a giant beanstalk," says Producer Pete Young. "BUD's mission is to grow it to maturity and harvest the seeds it produces. The plant ends up being a towering two-kilometer-high bridge from the ground to his space ship."
The game isn't far off either. It's set for next week with a February 4th release date on PC. Pick up a game pad though, because the game was specifically designed with one in mind.
Here is a trailer, which doesn't show much climbing, but makes for a nice mood piece.

I'll bite. While I have no real indication about what this involves, I really like the cutesy art style. I'll pick this up when it drops.
