We ALMOST Had a James Gunn-Directed 'Superman' Movie
You know those times where the "what ifs" and "almost" projects are just SO GOOD you have to yell about them? The one I personally yell about the most is George Miller's Wonder Woman starring Megan Gale what WOULD HAVE PROBABLY LED TO KINGDOM COME, and also Guillermo del Toro's possible Dark Universe (DC Comics dark universe, not the Universal Monsters).
We've just read about another one of these possibilities, and it's one we're both scratching our heads on and interested in.

WHAT IF James Gunn directed a Superman movie for Warner Bros. Pictures?
When WB brought Gunn on following Disney's firing of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 & Vol 2 writer/director, he was apparently given the keys to the DC Comics kingdom–being offered his pick of the numerous titles in the WB library, including The Last Son Of Krypton.
Obviously, we know that Gunn settled on another team as he's written the script (and is now in talks to possibly direct) The Suicide Squad, which will NOT be a sequel to David Ayers 2016 Suicide Squad, and will instead reimagine the group with possible new characters and/or new casting.
While he's not actively writing or directing the other DC Comics film confirmed this week–DC Super Pets–Gunn did reportedly take a shine to the character of Krypto (this shouldn't surprise fans of Gunn's, as his pup Von Spears is a not infrequent visitor to sets and Gunn's various social media posts).
Which of WB's DC Comics properties would you like to see Gunn tackle? We'd almost think Green Lantern would be the right pick for him.
The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters in August of 2021.
