It Turns Out MJF's Serious Injury Was Just a Hangnail

We got the payoff to MJF's injury tease earlier than expected. On last night's AEW Dynamite, MJF revealed that the "severe injury" he was suffering from was a hangnail. MJF obtained the hangnail while gambling in the crowd during the first episodes of AEW Dynamite taped without an audience.

MJF first worried fans last week, posting to Twitter, "I wish I could put my body on the line more for you guys. I truly care so much about you being entertained during your hour of need. Unfortunately, something awful has happened to me, and it has gradually gotten worse. I can't comment on what the issue is at this time." He followed that up by saying, "My Issue has gotten worse, It's looking like I Might need surgery. I'm genuinely trying my very best to come back for you guys."

Claiming to be trying hard to please his fans should have been a very blatant clue that something fishy was going on. Sure enough, MJF revealed all on Dynamite last night, saying, "Hello. We are currently facing a nationwide epidemic. Our world as we know it has been shook to its core. We, and when I say we, I mean mankind, historically have quite possibly never been through such depressing and debilitating times. The fact that MJF has not wrestled on AEW Dynamite ie absolutely insane and I understand that my M-Jeffs — that's Maxwell Jacob Friedman fans for short, I mean, come on guys, use your noggin."

"You guys have been craving to see me on your TV sets, in your living, live and in person, and I'm here to explain why I have not been there for you," said Friedman, on the verge of years. "I promised myself I wouldn't cry. On my last appearance in AEW Dynamite, while gambling early on in the evening, I suffered a very serious injury. While throwing my cash, I got a hangnail. But like a valiant warrior, I proceeded to gamble until the show's ending. But unfortunately, due to my inability to quit, my sever injury became life-threatening. But I am here to tell you, my loyal M-Jeffs, that I will be back. And like a Phoenix, I will rise from the ashes, and I will become your AEW World Heavyweight Champion, because my name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and I'm better than you, and you know it."

We hope he recovers from his hangnail soon.
