The Punisher Cast and Crew Take to Social Media to Thank Fans
The Marvel TV blood bath continued today as Netflix announced that The Punisher was not getting renewed for a season three and that the upcoming season of Jessica Jones would be it's last. The Punisher dropped its second season last month and while most fans were expecting that it was going to get canceled, it didn't make it any easier to swallow. The cast took to social media to thank the fans and everyone who worked on the show. Star Jon Bernthal went out of his way to make sure that he thanked the service members who helped him train for the role. What a standup guy.
For Royce Johnson, who played Detective Brett Mahoney, he found out the same we way we all did; through social media as Johnson detailed to ComicBook.com.
"I found out this morning, brother, same way we found out about the other shows," Johnson reflects. "I tell people that sometimes the actors are the last ones to know, and that's what it is, we are. We find out through social media as well, you know? Or we check our emails, and we get a letter."
Johnson played a rather large role in The Punisher and also appeared in eighteen episodes of Daredevil and in an episode of Jessica Jones. He was sort of a regular in the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fact that they couldn't even send him an email is kind of lame.
Summary: After the murder of his family, Frank Castle becomes a vigilante known as "the Punisher", who aims to fight crime by any means necessary.
The Punisher, from showrunner Steve Lightfoot, stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Deborah Ann Woll, Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima, Giorgia Whigham, Corbin Bernsen, and Annette O'Toole. Seasons one and two are currently streaming on Netflix.
