Retailers Listened To Dan Slott And Upped Their Advance Orders On Clone Conspiracy
Greetings from the coal face of the direct comics market. Where retailers try to increase their orders of certain comics ahead of sale. Where supply and demand and most accurately reflected, where you can see which books are hot, where new orders are coming in and how retailers are reacting to new, unanticipated desire! Four days ago Dan Slott put out a shout telling retailers that they hadn't ordered enough issues of the Clone Conspiracy comic book, and that it was the main event title rather than Amazing Spider-Man.
Bleeding Cool repeated that call, pointing out that previous Spider-Man event crossovers had had a spin-off book with the title's name, which may have confused things this time.
It was a call echoed by Comic Book the day after.
Well, however retailers got to hear the news, it worked. Clone Conspiracy #1 tops the Advance Reorders list, which beat out Reborn, Mosaic, Doom Patrol and Solo. There are also strong performances for Kill Or Be Killed, Black Monday Murders and TMNT Universe, as well as a number of the Local Comic Shop Day titles.
