Emma Dumont Cast in Rob Cohen's Adaptation of Razor

Actress Emma Dumont, who currently plays Lorna Dane/Polaris in the Fox X-Men based series The Gifted, has been cast to play another comic book character. She is slated to play the lead in director Rob Cohen's adaptation of Razor from comic creator Everett Hartsoe.

According to Deadline, the project will be produced by Jeff Most (The Crow), Grant Cramer (Lone Survivor), Anna Wang (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2), Christopher Milburn (Hunter's Prayer) and Phillip Lee (The Dark Knight).

The comic series focuses on Nicole Mitchell, who at the age of 10 watched her police officer father being murdered by a group of criminals he was investigating. Seeing the horrific and tragic event lands Nicole in a sanitarium for a decade, where she plots out her revenge. Once free, she adopts the identity of the costumed vigilante Razor, an appropriate name based on the razor sharp blades she wears on her arms.

Cohen, creator and director of the first films in The Fast and the Furious and XXX franchises, said of the casting:

Emma is a renaissance woman. She's a wonderful actress, a professional ballet dancer, and is currently getting her degree in Robotics Engineering. I have her training in Krav Maga and, believe me, there is nothing she can't do.

Dumont will be back as Polaris in season 2 of The Gifted this fall. She's also appeared in Aquarius and Pretty Little Liars, and she played The White Lady on The Magicians.
