Three X-books were published last week, and we're running out of time to recap them all! Damn you, Presidents Day! This week we recap X-Men #6, X-Force #7, and Excalibur #7. Were they any good? And which was best? Read on to find out!

I wrote more in-depth about the ramifications of this issue here. I really enjoyed this one, both for what it does for Mystique and Destiny and for the way it returned to the best parts of HoXPoX, the revelations that fill in gaps and cause you to look back on past issues differently. It also adds more fuel to the ongoing fire that there's something very sinister going on with Xavier. He's allowed mutants like Apocalypse and other villains to join Krakoa and get what they want, but he's emotionally tormenting Mystique to manipulate her into doing his bidding. What else is he hiding?

Setting aside that we just had a story where someone stole Domino's luck in the recent Domino solo series by Gail Simone and David Baldeon, the basic concept here is an interesting one. Or at least, it was until we saw that the villain here was literally a reverse Domino. Sorry, but "reverse ____" is a stupid concept for a villain. It's stupid for The Flash and it's stupid here. We'll see if it can be redeemed in the future, but for now, I'm filing it under too goofy to take seriously. On a side note, I can't wait for Beast's arrogance to blow up in his face.

This issue falls more on the building side than the payoff side, but building is a necessary component. It's interesting to see Apocalypse gaining the trust of everyone except Gambit. Gambit is going to turn out to be right, of course. I'm sure Excalibur will dispatch with Cullen Bloodstone next issue. This issue captured some of the classic Excalibur feel as well.

Wolverine's Weiner X-Pick of the Week

With its building on past continuity and in particular its finally putting a label on Mystique and Destiny's relationship, X-Men #6 easily takes this week against a lackluster X-Force #7 and a fine but not spectacular Excalibur #7. Congratulations to the creative team.

The Wolverine's Weiner X-Pick of the Week is an award decided by my whims, not by any rule-based scientific process. It's whichever X-Men comic provides me with the most satisfying feeling, like a tubular cased meat product grilled on a fuzzy Canadian's adamantium claws on a hot Summer day. So you're welcome to disagree and post your opinions in the comments.

Also, before someone asks in the comments again, yes I am aware that the more common spelling is "wiener." But "weiner" is also an accepted spelling according to the dictionary. Who am I going to trust more? Some jackass in the comments section, or the dictionary? Besides, you know who would have spelled it "Wolverine's Wiener" if he were alive today? Hitler. I rest my case.

I leave you this week with a question: if the Charles Xavier at the beginning of HoXPoX was the one who returned from the Astral Plane in Fantomex's body, and that consciousness was then copied into a real clone of Professor X's body after the events of X-Force #1, then how do we know this is the true consciousness of the original Xavier and not one tainted by the Shadow King?
