Marvel True Believer Panel at San Diego Comic-Con: When I Applauded For Steve Rogers Being In Hydra or How A Bleeding Cool Writer Yelled From The Audience Without Being Called A Name

As a member of Marvel Unlimited Plus I get certain privileges, among them an invite to the special member only panel at San Diego Comic Con. This year's panel took place Sunday morning and was titled Marvel True Believers Panel. The panel was moderated by Ryan Penagos, Vice President and Executive Editor of Marvel Digital Media. The panel included Peter David, Zac Gorman, Robbie Thompson, David Walker, and Nick Spencer.

The panel provides to Marvel Unlimited Plus members, and this year also Marvel MasterCard holders, a chance to see some things that are only shown at this panel at SDCC and for the first time to the public. To start things off Penagos revealed the next Marvel Unlimited Plus box, which includes a Captain Marvel action figure – in the black and white uniform, a Wakandan patch from Black Panther, a pin, and three variant comics.

After that, Penagos said no pictures or video were allowed, and security was walking the room to make sure this was enforced. So the first thing that was shown was a video recapping the most recent season of Marvel Agents of Shield. Next was a small preview of an upcoming Spider-Man 2099 four part Civil War II storyline tie in. Next up on the screen was another video of the Marvel Agents of Shield logo burning away to reveal the skull of Ghost Rider. They discussed a little about Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider joining the show in the next season.

Next Gorman talked a little about the new Great Lake Avengers series, and how the GLA somehow come to own the Avengers trademark and trade that to become an official Avengers team, but that in order to be so they have to move the team from Milwaukee to Detroit.

Next up was Nick Spencer to discuss a little about Ant-Man and how they will soon be revealing how he ended up back in prison. They next showed a very funny video of out takes and bloopers from Marvel Agents of Shield. After that was Spencer talked about Captain America: Sam Wilson and said that US Agent would be appearing. Captain America: Steve Rogers was next, and Spencer started talking about issue 4, and said that obviously Steve Rogers was an agent of Hydra, and then I and only I in a room of probably a couple hundred people clapped and cheered, which caused Penagos to look at me in shock and after Spencer was done talking Penagos pointed me out and said to watch out for me as I was happy about Cap being Hydra, to which Spencer said, "Glad we have A fan." I then called out, without anyone calling me any rude names in return, "I trust the writer."

After that we got two more Marvel Agents of Shield videos, with auditions from several of the actors. After that I was very excited that five videos were shown from the upcoming Netflix Luke Cage series. Included was the teaser trailer, but they also showed a video that introduced Misty Knight, one of Cage plowing through some baddies in a boxing gym, and two videos that focus on the main villain of the series, Cottonmouth.

Overall a pretty good panel, that also included an Netflix Iron Fist teaser poster, and two variant comic books being given out to all members of the audience.
