Divorce Is Tricky: The Joyners #2 Out Today

This week brings the release of the second issue of The Joyners from Archaia, written by R.J. Ryan, with art by David Marquez. I was looking forward to it, because my experience reading the first issue was so positive. Besides, I'm a bit behind on the times since the original series has been out for quite some time.

[WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE JOYNERS #2!]

The description of this issue, I feel, is worth mentioning:

"Divorce is always a tricky subject, more-so when you're one of the wealthiest geniuses in the modern world."

Yes, George Joyner is getting a divorce, and things aren't going smoothly. However, it's more things caused by the divorce and not the actual divorce itself messing with his groove. In this issue we get to meet his daughter Michelle, and we discover that she has autism. We also get to meet the subject of his lust, the babysitter with a degree.

I found the second issue to be entertaining, not as much as the first, but there was certainly a lot of plot development in this one. We get to see more of what George is capable of, and how important he is to the higher ups around him. He's a complex character, one with a lot of pride, and I really enjoyed watching him in this issue. I felt like I learned a lot about his motivation through his dialogue and actions. However, the futuristic world is what really grasps my attention. I'm sad that there's only going to be two more issues to follow this one, and I can't help but wonder if it will be a satisfying experience when all is said and done. I guess time will tell.
