Help Us! Great Warrior #5 Is About How Friendships Save Us

Demons galore, in this month's issue of Help Us! Great Warrior! From BOOM! Box, written and illustrated by Madeleine Flores, with colors by Trillian Gunn, Help Us! Great Warrior #5 centers on Great Warrior's quest to restore trust in her fellow heroes. Now that the big secret is out, and we've learned that Great Warriors' mother isn't the friendliest of creatures, things have become complicated. Hadiyah needs help and it's up to Leo and Great Warrior to do something.

There is definitely a strong theme of friendship in this issue, and it's definitely put to the test. I have to admit, I did get a bit emotional as I read because Flores writes a pretty touching script. I adored the sweet comical recap at the beginning of the issue, which you can see above. As always the layout of her script and the balance she has with using illustrations to demonstrate characters emotions and plot progression is done so well. This is truly a gem of a comic and while it may appear to be simple, there's something quite unique and memorable about it. Trillian Gunn's use of colors brings it to a whole other level of greatness. With only one issue left, it's fitting that we are left with one heck of a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see how things turn out for Great Warrior and her friends. If you haven't had the chance to experience this comic yet, now is the perfect time. Pick up the first five issues and binge read in preparation for next month's final issue!
