Marvel's Mantis 101 Is More Confusing Than Helpful

A couple weeks back, after the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer, I did up a Comic Book History of Mantis. It was one of the more difficult ones I've done because the story takes a lot of context to tell. The Swordsman, the Cotati, the Zodiac, Celestial Madonna, and Kang. All of these things need set up before you can tie her story together.

Marvel does these short Marvel 101 video for characters in the news and this week they decided to do Mantis. And even after having done the research for my article, they video is really damn confusing. They spend one minute on it and never mention any of the above noted things. They almost speed through her early days trying to get to where she's part of the Guardians and then do a line in the way she speaks, referring to herself as "this one" without any explanation. This particular Marvel 101 is more confusing than helpful… at least to me.
