First Look at Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers in Sony's New Biopic

Earlier this year we a fantastic documentary about Fred Rogers of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. However, despite that documentary being pretty much perfect, Sony Pictures has decided to make their own biopic version of this story and they chose pretty much the only person they could possibly cast for the role. The Hollywood Reporter shared a first look of Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers in the biopic titled You Are My Friend.

The outfit is right but it kind of just looks like Hanks dressed as Fred Rogers instead of Fred Rogers. We'll have to see if he manages to nail the mannerism when we finally see some footage from this one.

Summary: The story of Fred Rogers, the honored host and creator of the popular children's television program, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (1968).

You Are My Friend, directed by Michelle Heller, stars Tom Hanks, Matthew Rhys, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Cooper, and Noah Harpster. It will be released on October 18, 2019.
