Scott Cooper Won't Direct WB's Adaptation Of Stephen King's The Stand After All

Following in the footsteps of Ben Affleck and David Yates, now Scott Cooper has fallen out of directing WB's massively ambitious adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand too, according to The Wrap.

Cooper first came on board after Affleck became Batman and thus too busy for the massive undertaking, but now Cooper is leaving for "creative differences," which are usually a bit more difficult to reconcile than scheduling. While The Wrap don't go into further details, THR's Borys Kit does on his Twitter:

A PG-rated post-apocalyptic horror film doesn't seem like a great idea, no matter how much the studio must be thinking from a business perspective, and in any case it doesn't sound like they're very far along in the process if such arguments are still taking place and they don't even know how many movies it should be yet.

This news comes amid Cooper seemingly still very much on board with the project when doing press for his latest flick, Out of the Furnace, talking to MTV about his shooting style and even whether or not Christian Bale might be one of his stars. Most interesting revelation from that interview is Cooper hinting that his version would be just one standalone movie. Well. Not anymore.
