Three Countries, Three Conventions, Threemorrow
Tomorrow it's the beginning of the Birmingham International Comic Show, held at the ThinkTank at Millennium Point centre in Birmingham, England over the weekend, and attended by much of the British comics industry. Although the amount of fans have been dwindling… the announcement of a surprise guest may buoy that. Tommy Lee Edwards had to pull out of an appearance, so in his place Turf co-creator Jonathan Ross should bring the crowds and the press attention.
Other guests include Charles Vess, Yanick Paquette, Alan Davis, Bryan Hitch, Dave Gibbons, Jock, Paul Cornell, Charlie Adlard, Duncan Fegredo and many more.
The attendance of Vertigo editor Pornsak Picoshote will be interesting – it was recently announced he was being laid off by DC , but he is still going to the show and he is much loved by the British creative community. Expect everyone to be buying him drinks. Indeed, I'm sure the drinking is about to start in a couple of hours.
Then there's also the MCBA Fallcon, tomorrow from 10am to 5pm at the MN State Fairgrounds Progress Center, 1621 Randall Ave N
St. Paul MN 55108.
With Adam Hughes, Dan Jurgens, Barbara Guttman, Ryan Kelly, Michael May and Herbe Trimpe. May I also suggest you hold Zander Cannon down until he shows you his detailee thumbnails for the rest of Top Ten Season Two?
And don't forget (as I did) Malta Comic Con also kicking off tomorrow, with guests including Liam Sharp, Tim Perkins, Dave Windett, Gary Erskine, Renee Witterstaetter, Claudio Castellini, Sean Azzopardi and more. A number of whom I would have expected to have been at BICS…
