Scott Lobdell is Creating a Free Comic Book Day For The World
Scott Lobdell is a comic book and movie writer. He created the Happy Death Day movie franchise, wrote many of the X-Men comic books current being raked over by Jonathan Hickman, wrote the Flash Forward series and the current Red Hood: Outlaw comic for DC. Shutdown with the rest of us, he is also having a bit of a spring clean of all the comic book comp copies he has received over the years of his work. Which he is now signing, and giving away for free, posting all over the world.
As well as creating new X-Men fanfic on Instagram, he writes "Every Sunday until this thing passes (and let's hope it is sooner than later) I am giving away free signed comic books. All I ask is only ask for one if you REALLY want it and not just cause it is free (🤪) and only if you haven't got one at the myriad comic book stores or shows I've been to over the years. Just leave your address in the DMs and I'll get one out to you in the mail if you are in the first ten. (I'm sorry I can't send out more at a time but I'm limited here in Florida for the moment.) I'll get the comic to you in the mail this week… pandemic precaution allowing. If not… soon."
It seemed to do the trick. He followed with "I got soooo many replies from so many people in so many countries… I couldn't bring myself to deny anyone. So like Oprah might say…"You get a comic! You get a comic!" Please be patient with me as I am far from home and far from my trusted Melissa — World's Greatest Assistant. So many individual packing slips… and waiting for comics from my collection on the West Coast. Stay safe and stay strong."
Since then he has made a start. "For everyone asking… the comics are going out this week! 🤗 I woefully underestimated the enthusiasm this created — but more importantly, you would not believe how labor intensive it is to create a mailing list (domestic and international!) out of hundreds of screenshots! (You can thank the World's Greatest Assistant Melissa by liking @vintagerags2riches_ ). Thank you all for your patience — and yes the program is still open. Love you all and #staysafe."
Pop by on Sunday and see if he has any left. Odds are that he has.
