Another Sea of Thieves Closed Beta is Coming Our Way
Microsoft and Rare have announced a closed beta test for Sea of Thieves this month. Going by a recent Xbox blog post, the beta will run for five days from January 24th at 4 a.m. PT to January 29th at 12 a.m. PT.
Players who signed up for the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme before December 1st, 2017, as well as those who pre-ordered the game, will have guaranteed access to the beta. Rare promises the closed beta will be "a true taste of what Sea of Thieves has to offer," but it won't be the full experience of the game. Obviously.
And since the beta isn't covered by an NDA, players will be able to freely stream the game, take screenshots, and create and share gameplay videos/clips of their piratey fun times this month.
This Sea of Thieves-themed limited edition controller is coming out a bit ahead of the game's release, and it looks pretty darn cool. The controller features a deep purple, translucent design along with a green overlay that looks like sprinkled sand. The green skull in the middle is also glow-in-the-dark. Another interesting aesthetic feature is that the right trigger (and right trigger alone) is gold. The controller becomes available as of February 6th, and is retails at $74.99 USD.
Sea of Thieves releases for Xbox One and PC on March 20th.
