Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition is Coming to PS4
Some very weird but awesome news out of Square Enix this morning as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition is Coming to PS4. The original game was released back in 2001 on the Game Cube, and allowed for four-player co-op using link cables from the controller ports to Game Boy Advance units, so everyone could play different parts of the world or work together on a specific goal. According to Kotaku, the game will be released in Japan in 2019 and will include global multiplayer.
A couple parts to this are a bit puzzling. We get why they would release in Japan first, but if you're going to tell people that it will have global multiplayer, why not tell people it's going to come out everywhere in 2019 instead of just Japan? We can already guess we'll see it in the west and probably get a trailer for it at E3, so just say it. Second, of all consoles, why the PS4? Sony has said the console is in its final stages as they work on what we can assume is the PS5, so why not move it to a multiplayer console that is trying to promote multiplayer fun and portability like the Nintendo Switch? Seems like that would have been a better home for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition at launch.
