Fortnite's Comet: Sign of the Apocalypse or Alien Conspiracy?
Fortnite players have been noticing some oddities about the game, from random controller vibrations to a mysterious comet streaking through the sky. Players have naturally started mapping out locations where the controller rumbles happen, while others have come up with theories to explain the comet.
When Kotaku reached out to a representative for Epic Games about the comet, they only received an image in reply. That image was a still of Giorgio A. Tsoukalos from Ancient Aliens. You know the one, the guy with the crazy hair who thinks every single thing is an alien conspiracy.
This obviously means only one thing: the apocalypse is coming to Fortnite. Or perhaps that aliens are the reason why the storm even exists on the free-for-all island of Fortnite's Battle Royale mode. Or perhaps we're headed for another extinction event.
As Kotaku reports:
Actually, the entire Battle Pass season seems to be space-themed, and we still have weeks left to go before it's over. During this season, one of the Battle Pass rewards is an astronaut costume. Savvy players have also noticed that other unlockables include stickers of eggs, dinosaurs, and an explosion. It's as if Epic is referencing dinosaur extinction, something which was prompted by an asteroid. Will something big happen at the end of the current Fortnite season?
It's time to bust out our tinfoil hats, friends, because Epic Games is clearly playing the long con with us. A conspiracy is afoot.
