Ubisoft has announced that Rainbow Six Siege is getting a free to play weekend later this month.

Rainbow Six Siege has definitely been on a journey since its release. When it first landed, it was liked, but hardly tore up critics or sales charts. However, with a fair amount of TLC and a continued support of the title, Ubisoft garnered a dedicated and growing audience aroudn the title. Today, it's one of the most played online first-person shooters, and that's after two years since release. That doesn't always happen.

If you've still not seen what all the fuss is about though, you will be able to try out the game next weekend free of charge. Starting Thursday, the game will be available to play in its entirety and then will end at different times depending on which platform you're on. On PC (accessed via Steam or uPlay) it will run from February 15-18, while Xbox One players will get an extra day, with their's ending on the 19th. Weirdly, if you are playing on PlayStation 4, you get an extra day on top of that too, with that concluding on February 20.

This will be the full version of the game too, as players will be able to experience all modes and operators. Any progress you make will follow you if you decide to purchase the game afterwards. These weekends tend to be accompanied by some kind of sale of the game, but there's no announcement of that yet.

This is undoubtedly to try and get some new players into the game before the title's year 3 season, Operation Chimera,  kicks off in early March. If you haven't played the game, it's certainly worth checking out. It's a really cool title and I'm sure you'll realise why the game has seen such a dedicated community rise around it.
