"Tetris 99" Evolves To 2.0 In A New Update With 2nd DLC
In the latest Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the next evolution of Tetris 99 is on the horizon. Tomorrow, Tetris 99 2.0 is coming to Nintendo Switch.
The 2.0 update will bring a slew of changes to the game. Players will be able to complete daily missions to earn tickets. Those tickets can be exchanged for themes, including the recently featured Nintendo IP based ones. Now players have a more permanent shot at getting the Fire Emblem: Three Houses Tetris theme of their dreams.
Those who have won a match will unlock a new Invictus mode, where the competition is exclusively comprised of other winners. Other additions include new user icons, which are earned as players hit certain gameplay milestones.
The final announcement was the second Tetris 99 paid DLC release, which drops with the 2.0 update. With the DLC installed, players can enjoy local gameplay modes like an eight-player arena mode and two-player Tetris 99. A physical edition of the game which includes both DLCs and 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online, releases on September 6th.
