David F. Sandberg Is "Pretty Much Going Into Shazam! Right Away"
We know that Shazam! is the next DC movie to go into production. With a mid 2019 release date they'll have to get the ball rolling by 2018. That's when a lot of people assumed anyway, but it could be sooner than we thought. In an interview with Collider director David F. Sandberg mentioned that he doesn't have much of a break between movies.
Pretty much going into Shazam right away. I mean my life's just become so weird because I got to do Lights Out and immediately afterward I got to do Annabelle and now I'm going straight into Shazam, so it's like I'm on a roll so let's just keep going until they kick me out of Hollywood.
So, logically, Collider followed up with that because thus far we've had no start date.
When do you start filming?
SANDBERG: Yeah, I don't know if it's official.
Gotcha.
SANDBERG: It's coming up.
Good save buddy. As far as casting goes there is probably a list that is going around right now but Warner Bros will probably announce it after Justice League comes out. It's a good marketing move that will, depending on how Justice League is received, either distract people from a disaster or keep the hype train rolling.
Shazam!, directed by David Sandberg, will be written by Henry Gayden. It will be released on April 5th, 2019.
