Cry in the New Year While Watching Doctor Who Crew Tear Down Peter Capaldi's TARDIS

Jodie Whittaker's 13th Doctor will return in 2018 after making her debut during the Christmas Special, Twice Upon a Time, and it looks like we can expect some major changes to the TARDIS to herald her arrival. How do we know? Because Peter Capaldi's TARDIS has been completely disassembled.

The official Doctor Who account posted a time lapse video of the crew taking apart the old TARDIS interior, the one that belonged to the departing 12th Doctor, and removing it from the soundstage, presumably getting ready for Whittaker's new TARDIS to be built from scratch.

Changing the TARDIS control room is nothing new, though Peter Capaldi's Doctor made just a few changes to the one last used by Matt Smith's 11th Doctor. This time around, however, the changes appear to be on the extensive side. We've already seen the exterior of the 13th Doctor's TARDIS in an image released in November. How many differences can you count?

Well, if any fanbase knows how to be accepting of change, it's got to be Doctor Who's, right? Still, we can't help but feel a tinge of sadness at seeing Capaldi's TARDIS hauled off. Perhaps he can write us a letter to cheer us up.
