Project Cars Has Been Pushed Back To Mid-May For Polishing
I've been fairly impressed the more I see of Project Cars. It seems to be taking an approach that lets players choose how they want to play, which I'm really digging.
Sadly, we are going to have to wait a little longer to see how it finally turns out. The game has been moved from April to 'mid-May'. This is the second time the title has been delayed, as it was originally slated for a November release.
Slightly Mad Studio's Ian Bell explained the reasoning for the delay saying:
Despite our long heritage and pedigree in making critically-acclaimed racing games, Project Cars is by far the grandest and most intricately detailed of them all. Despite therefore the game being 99.9 per cent complete, the remaining 0.1 per cent attending to small issues and bugs has been tricky to anticipate.
We're absolutely dedicated to delivering a ground-breaking experience and by targeting mid-May fans can be assured that's what they'll receive.
As a nice gesture though, the studio has said that every player will receive a free gift to make up for the delays.
And since the gaming community is our primary focus and has always been at the heart of the project during development, we would like to offer some free content to all players as compensation for this short delay and as acknowledgement of how grateful we are. This gift, that we're sure is going to excite fans, will be available from day one and revealed shortly. Keep an eye on our website for more info.
Project Cars is certainly on the late side, but that's okay. It's good to see a company want to really iron out those bugs. From the sounds of it, Slightly Mad could just put it out soon, but it's good to see them take bugs and 'small issues' seriously.
