Shazam! Will Have a Post-Credits Scene but It Won't Include Black Adam

If there is one thing that Marvel has done it's made people stay through the credits of movies. This is not a bad thing since you should stay through the credits of every movie. All of the names on the screen put in a lot of work to make the movie you just watched possible, plus you usually get the chance to take in the soundtrack as well. When it comes to superhero movies, fans tend to expect it even more to the point where there are groans when there aren't post-credits scenes. It sounds like Shazam! is going to give us that post-credits scene as Den of Geek spoke to producer Peter Safran and he confirmed that Shazam! will have a scene to wait for.

"It's probably the same decision making that one has on all of these movies," said Safran. "Which is: what's going to be fun, what's going to be satisfying for the audience, what's going to be a nice punctuation mark at the end of the movie? … We had a lot of options. I think we ended up with something good."

The first thing people are going to assume is that it will be Black Adam, as played by Dwayne Johson. When asked about this, Safran said any speculation is a "complete myth". One speculation he was able to confirm is that Shazam! does acknowledge that other superheroes are real.

"Absolutely, yeah," he says. "They live in a world where these things are real, which is also fun to explore, because we don't really see that aspect of it, like how would pop culture — will they still have the toys, the action figures that we have? They do. It's just based on real things."

The DC Universe is doing well with the success of Aquaman and it's going to be interesting to see if they can keep up the momentum for this installment. Thus far, the trailers and marketing material are showing off something very different.

Summary: A boy is given the ability to become an adult superhero in times of need with a single magic word.

Shazam!, directed by David F. Sandberg, stars Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Asher Angel, and will be written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. It will be released on April 5th, 2019.
