In the most recent episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD we have a few nods to season two, moving forward of season three and a set up for a spin-off begins. And with that, let's get to the important moments of The Inside Man.

1 – The episode starts with Phil Coulson tracking down Glenn Talbot, the new acting head of the ATCU. Talbot is dealing with his wife leaving him as Coulson arrives. They are then approached by Carl Creel / the Absorbing Man who they take as an attack. Agent Melinda May and Lincoln Campbell take him out but we then learn that Creel is working for Talbot as his security. They cleaned up the mind control Hydra had done on Creel and now he is on the side of the angels… so to speak.

2 – Jenna Simmons is fascinated by Creel, the only non-Inhuman to touch the obelisk and live. She takes a blood sample and discovers that Creel's blood would work like a vaccine against the Terrigen Mist. Lincoln confirms this and it pits him and Daisy Johnson against one another as Daisy sees the mist as an awakening while Lincoln sees it as a disease in it's most clinical terminology and people should have a choice. Daisy doesn't believe the government would make it a choice. As expected, Marvel is using the Inhumans in their live-action universe in much the same way they use mutants in the comic world. The same questions and fears are being brought up and sides are starting to form.

3 – Talbot and Coulson head to a symposium on Inhumans with Creel, May, Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse as back-up. Coulson has heard that Gideon Malick has an inside man at the symposium and is going to try and get the Inhumans for himself. It turns out that Talbot is the inside man because Malick has kidnapped his son… hence the wife leaving. Malick arrives and claims that Coulson is the head of Hydra and that the best option for Inhumans is to pull them all together into one place as the Russian representative suggested. Coulson and Talbot are taken away and ordered killed while Malick works the rest of the representatives.

4 – Meanwhile, not to forget that creepy evil is still happening, we join Grant Ward / Hive as he is about to… we'll call it eat… a few innocent volunteers. Giyera and Lucio don't seem to be very happy about innocent people being killed, but still move out of the way to let it happen. Whatever it is Hive does, it works as he ends up looking whole and healthy again… and covered in orange syrup.

5 – Creel goes and saves Talbot and Coulson, May goes off and saves Talbot's son while Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter follow Malick. Getting Talbot's son back strengthen's the connection between him and Coulson and it also brings Creel in as a possible ally. Now I'm not sure, but Malick has Talbot's son in a gel containment unit usually used on Inhumans. Does this mean that Talbot's son is an Inhuman or was it just a convenient way to keep him quiet? Also it's discovered that Ellen King, the representative from Australia has an Inhuman that they are doing experiments on. We later learn that the Inhuman is rescued by SHIELD… anyone know of an Australian Inhuman from the comics?

6 – We end with Gideon Malick given a flight home to the Russian representative, Anton Petrov. Hiding in what looked to be the cargo hold are Bobbi and Hunter. Now we already know that a pilot episode for a spin-off series called Marvel's Most Wanted has been ordered and it will focus on Bobbi and Hunter on the run because they are accused of an assassination. The previews for next week say that the episode will change the team forever. This is most likely the start of the two agents leaving this series and moving to the spin-off.

Growing up, one of the most compelling things about Marvel comics was how they could show the arguments for equality through the plight of mutants. Some of the best storylines, like God Loves Man Kills, were centered around the fear and hatred of humans when it came to mutated humans with special abilities. Without having the X-Men in the cinematic / live-action universe, that rich trove of stories were out of reach… but they have shifted the Inhumans into that role. Now they just have to tell the stories as evenly and skillfully as they were told in the comics.
