Tiger Shroff Channels '80s Stallone In First Poster For Official Indian Rambo Remake
An official Indian Rambo remake from director Siddharth Anand and action star Tiger Shroff is slated for release in 2018, and they've just released its first movie poster.
This one has me fascinated from every angle: The Rambo franchise starring Sylvester Stallone, which started with the First Blood film in 1982, helped define the American action film for that decade and far beyond. It's something which contains several elements which were in the air in that era: reaction to the Vietnam War, unraveling the sprawling consequences of that war and others, the mainstream fictionalization of the military-industrial complex that President Dwight D. Eisenhower had warned us about some 20 years prior. Chuck Norris rose to mainstream fame in the wake of Rambo with Missing in Action two years later.
It's going to be interesting to see what some of those themes look like from another perspective — and 35 years later, we're about to find out. They're clearly channeling the original there, and it caught my eye that Shroff responded to Stallone's notice of the project on Instagram:
