WWE Superstar Kofi Kingston Undergoes Ankle Surgery After Dastardly Attack By The Revival
WWE superstar Kofi Kingston, one third of WWE's longest reigning tag team champions, The New Day, will be out of action for a while. The wrestler underwent ankle surgery this morning, according to a report from WWE.com, following a post-match beatdown by a rival tag team. In the report, WWE doctor Chris Amann said, "During the attack by The Revival, Kofi injured his right ankle and heard a crack, and was unable to put weight on his leg following the attack. Further evaluation and an MRI revealed that the attack had caused fragments of bone to break off the ankle bone (talus), requiring arthroscopic surgery to remove the bone chips from the damaged joint." Sounds legit.
Of course, some cynical wrestling fans may suspect that Kingston's injury was sustained prior to the beatdown by The Revival, with the beatdown itself occurring in order to write Kingston off TV while he recovers. The New Day didn't wrestle at Wrestlemania, and in the match on Monday Night Raw, it was Xavier Woods and Big E that competed, with Kingston getting physically involved only at the end during the beatdown. But we here at Bleeding Cool choose to believe WWE.com, an official news source that would never lie to us.
We hope Kingston recovers quickly, and also that WWE doesn't break up The New Day while he's out during the "superstar shake-up" occurring this week. That would be so booty.
