166 Beautiful Photos From Her Universe Fashion Show At San Diego Comic-Con
Now in its third year the Ashley Eckstein's Her Universe Fashion show is a force to be reckoned with. On Thursday night, 27 designers competed to be chosen as Hot Topic's next big designer. Co-sponsored by Hot Topic the show continues to grow in size and prestige.
This year the story of the show began weeks before the actual event. The Her Universe Fashion Show: Fashion Meets Fandom on Comic-Con HQ introduced viewers to this year's designers. We followed them from their initial introduction in the open call all the way to their workrooms and completed designs. The designers pulled inspiration from everything from Harry Potter to the Last Man on Earth to 28 Days Later. Their hard work and dedication paid off, and the finished products absolutely blew me away.
This year the Fashion Show opened with a message from Her Universe Founder Ashley Eckstein. The focus of the show was on female empowerment, which it a natural fit with Her Universe's mission to create a safe inclusive space for all fans. Ashley continues to show us why she is the face of geek fashion. She kicked the show off with a bang. Donning colorful braids styled after her character Ahsoka Tano's signature montrals, Ashley walked the run way in a stunning new dress made of Legos. The dress was co-designed by 2014 Audience Choice Winner Andrew MacLaine and renowned Lego artist Nathan Sawaya. It was based off of Star Wars: Clone Wars Dave Filoni's famous Ahsoka sketch and was made of over 10,000 individual Legos and weighed over 25 pounds.

Before the designers showed off their work, the Her Universe Fashion Line took center stage. Models strutted down the runway showing off new Marvel themed designs as well as some old Star Wars favorites that will be making an appearance in Hot Topic Stores soon. Me, I'm most looking forward to the new Captain Marvel dress.
This year the show will have three winners. Not only did the judges and attendees pick their favorites, but online viewers can select their favorite design as well. Her Universe fans are encouraged to go online and check out the show on Comic-Con HQ, then go online and select their favorite design. The 2016 Her Universe Fashion Show will be available for viewing on July 28, so tune in and see who the winners are.
