Switch May Get Wii U Games And Other Controller Support In The Future

Nintendo's President Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed that Wii U games could be ported to the Switch. "We can take games and bring them and make them playable on Switch. So they can be remade for Switch, yes," he told Time Magazine in a wide-ranging interview that published earlier today.

Kimishima went on to tell Time, "That said, Switch is not backward compatible with games designed for other systems, and is not currently compatible with controllers designed for other systems. Support for certain controllers may be considered for a future update."

So that's some good news for fans of back-compatibility. I know I tend to be very excited about news that I can play my old favorites alongside newer games on a console, but I've also adapted to the lack of backwards compatibility by simply hoarding consoles. After all, you may be able to buy versions of your old games on a new console but it isn't quite the same, is it? You're still buying a new copy of the game at the end of the day.

This new version of back-compatibility is a great way for publishers and console creators to make you spend twice the amount of money. But it does cut down on clutter. It's rather hard to fit four consoles on a basic TV stand, let me tell you.
