Mahershala Ali In Talks To Lead True Detective Season 3

Word is that True Detective season 3 is happening and Luke Cage's Mahershala Ali is going to star. According to the Tracking Board, the deal isn't done yet, but it looks good according to their sources. But… the third season itself has not gotten the greenlight yet from HBO. The series likes to go for big stars: Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch so far. Ali has been getting more and more attention over the last few years for roles in Treme, Moonlight, House of Cards, Free State of Jones and Luke Cage.

No details yet on what plot creator Nic Pizzolatto is playing or the role Ali would play.

Ali won an Oscar for his performance in Moonlight, which also won Best Picture. Coming up you can see him in Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel and the film Roxanne Roxanne as well as hear him in the upcoming Sony animated Spider-Man movie.
