'Jean-Claude Van Johnson': Van Damme Shows Concern In Series Teaser
Jean-Claude Van Damme is one of those actors who has a tendency to disappear and reappear at the most random yet opportune times — so why should his new Amazon series be any different? After over a year since the pilot first premiered on Amazon, the streaming service has released a new teaser trailer and poster for Van Damme's meta action-comedy series Jean-Claude Van Johnson.
In the teaser, work is being done on a giant statue in honor of Van Damme as the voice-over commentator gets us psyched for the return of Van Damme to our screens. Only person who has any doubts? The welder — which wouldn't be a problem, if the welder wasn't 'The Muscles from Brussels" himself. Let's just say he's really not sure whether this is the greatest idea in the world:
"Jean-Claude Van Johnson stars global martial arts and film sensation Jean-Claude Van Damme as "Jean-Claude Van Damme," a global martial arts and film sensation…and, operating under the simple alias of 'Johnson," the most dangerous undercover operative in the world. Unhappily retired, he's now whiling away his days in superficial Hollywood… until a chance encounter with a lost love lures him back into the game, eventually forcing him to confront the greatest enemy he's ever faced: a Bulgarian drug cartel.
Just kidding it's himself."
Jean-Claude Van Johnson also stars returning cast members Phylicia Rashad (Jane), Kat Foster (Vanessa) and Moises Arias (Luid), with Expendables alum Dave Callaham, Key & Peele's Peter Atencio, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker and others serving as executive producers.
Amazon's pilot for Jean-Claude Van Johnson is still available online for streaming. Though no release date was announced, the series is expected to stream some time during the first-half of 2018.
"My name is Jean-Clade Van Damme. I used to be super famous. Perhaps you remember my first starring role in Bloodsport. It is on television all of the time. Or maybe you've seen Timecop, which is like Looper starring Bruce Willis, but like a million times better."
