Final Fantasy XV's Multiplayer Expansion Has Been Delayed
The multiplayer update for Final Fantasy XV called Comrades has been delayed. The expansion was originally slated to debut at the end of this month, but has been pushed back while the team works on small adjustments to the final game balance. Given the instability the demo build of yhe gamr showed, I'm not surprised at the delay and actually find it somewhat comforting. After all, FFXV was late as hell but damn was that wait worth it.
A new precise release date for the expansion will be announced sometime soon.
Another change coming to Comrades, at least in Japan, is an increased price tag. The DLC was previously priced at 1,500 yen plus taxes, but it will now cost a bit more, 1,980 yen plus taxes, which translates to about $17.5 in USS. At the moment, no announcements have been made about an increased price for the western version of the DLC, but it is pretty likely we'll hear about that in a few days.
Of course, those who purchased the expansion pass won't have to pay anything more and will be able to download the DLC as soon as it launches, the lucky stiffs.
I got a chance to go hands on with the DLC at both PAX West and NYCC, and while the combat works pretty much exactly the same (you play as a former member of the Insomnian military, which gives you access to spells and warp strikes) but works a bit more like a monster hunter game. So if you loved hunting daemon and beast marks in the base game, you will adore the expansion. And since the demo had you taking orders from Cor the Immortal, well, it earned a special place in my FF loving heart.
