Save A Comic Shop In Chicago – Membership Has Its Privileges
This is Defiant Comics in Forest Park, Illinois.
This is Brian Fisher, its owner.
Wait, no, that's Gene Ha who recently signed there to promote his Dark Horse comic, Mae. Anyway. Brian is looking to make some friends. As, as the store name suggests, not going down without a fight. He writes,
We've been open for three years so far, trying our best to provide you with a unique comic book shop experience. Unfortunately those 3 years have not been the easiest. We've had our fair share of money scares over that time, but we've been able to prevail to this point, thanks to the generosity of family, friends, and our local bank. But these resources have dried up and now we cast ourselves upon the good graces of our customers and fans. The amount we're asking for will be used to pay our bills while we get our feet back under us; something I have full confidence will happen as the year carries on. Construction on our street, Madison, has affected the business of many shops in our area including us, and having just finished, customers are only now returning to the street. We're asking you, our customers, to invest in your comic shop. Keep us going, if only for a little while longer. I feel we're creating something special here and how better to be a part of that than donating to its success? Along with our eternal gratitude we are putting together "membership cards" that will include a permanent discount, reflecive of your gift as thanks for your generosity!
If you want to be a member of that club, click here…. they've raised $2,179 of their $10k goal in three days…
