Unknown Soldier's Josh Dysart And Alberto Ponticelli Team For WFP Comic On South Sudan
I've known Joshua Dysart for eighteen years, when he and Tone Rodriguez first bought their book Violent Messiahs to Image Comics. He went on to success with Vertigo / DC on Swamp Thing and the Unknown Soldier. Josh is one of those writers that wants to immerse himself into the world he's writing about. He's made several trip to the Middle East and has become very passionate about helping the innocents there whose life have been torn apart by famine, war and terror. He's worked with the World Food Programme on a couple of comics to help bring attention to the plight of those in areas of Iraq and South Sudan. The second free comic is now available digitally, but I'm going to let Josh talk about it himself. He posted this on his Facebook page a little while ago.
Well. As many of you know, a few years ago I did a free online comic with the World Food Programme called LIVING LEVEL-3: IRAQ. Today, LIVING LEVEL-3: SOUTH SUDAN, the sequel hit. In spring of 2016, I spent ten days traveling the length of South Sudan for research. Though this is a work of fiction, everything in it is true and actually happened, and is still happening. I made the comic book with my fellow Unknown Soldier alumni Alberto Ponticelli on art and Pat Masioni doing the colors. Thomas Mauer lettered it and it was edited by Cristina Ascone.
I'd love to get as much of a signal boost on this as I can.
Right now the best reader experience for the comic, entirely for free, is here…
