Big News For 'Overwatch' As "Deathmatch" Will Be Added
Up until now, Blizzard and the Overwatch devs have been content keeping the game to being objective based, as they felt having a Deathmatch option wasn't necessary or fit the game's tone all that well. It hasn't stopped fans from asking for it, though, as every couple of days there seems to be a new "when will you do deathmatch?" question in their forums. Today… that all changes.
In the latest Developer Update video that just went up, Jeff Kaplan announced that Deathmatch is on the way. Specifically, it will be added to the Arcade as an option for you to play with friends and other competitors, but will not be available as an option in Free Play or Competitive Seasons. The primary mode will be eight players who can choose whatever hero they want with the goal of getting the highest score.
Now, of course, that does raise the question of do you have to take first place in order to get a loot box. No, in fact, you only need to place in the top four of the round to get credit toward the boxes. To hear the full details of what's to come, check out the Developer Update video below.
