Crysis Remastered Confirmed to Be Headed to All Platforms

Crytek has officially confirmed that its long-rumored Crysis Remaster is finally making its way to all platforms in the near future, including the Nintendo Switch. This will mark the first time a Crysis game has been seen on the Switch.

Crysis Remastered has finally been confirmed and it's headed to a variety of platforms.

Rumors of the game coming to modern platforms began swirling quickly when the long-dormant official Crysis Twitter account began posting messages. It posted a tweet on April 13 reading "RECEIVING DATA" after remaining quiet since December 13, 2016, four years ago.

The next day, on April 14, it posted a tweet that read "Hey Nomad, you're still with us?" in reference to the protagonist from the first Crysis game.

Finally, on April 16, a post that read "CLOAK DISENGAGED" was posted. "You've been asking. You've been waiting," the tweet read. "Today, that wait is over. It's coming: Crysis Remastered on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and – for the very first time on the Nintendo Switch Platform."

The message, now pinned on the Twitter account, was enough to get fans excited. It's not a new installment in the Crysis series (perhaps that's coming for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5), but it's still very much something to get excited over.

It's been 13 years since the original Crysis hit the scene, and in 2007 it was considered a benchmark game to see how well your hardware could perform. Since then, it's had two sequels and a spin-off. Now the remastered edition will be added to the list. It's unclear just yet if the remastered version will require the same graphical prowess as the original. That would require a very significant overhaul, in fact, and it isn't clear if this new version will be as aesthetically pleasing as the first title was when it came out. It would be interesting if it were just the same kind of graphical marvel as it were back in 2007, though.

Perhaps this remake is testing the waters for interest for a new Crysis. It's been long enough for a new title to have been announced, or at least one getting a bit of progress made on it. Hopefully, that's something we'll hear more on soon. It certainly would be an interesting development.
