Games Done Quick Plans New Event & Postpones Their Summer Event
Games Done Quick had a pair of announcements today as they are holding a new benefit event as well as postponing one due to the coronavirus outbreak. The organization has announced they will be hosting a special speedrunning marathon coming up called Corona Relief Done Quick (CRDQ). The event will go to support the efforts in preventing the spread of the global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as benefit those in need. This will be an online-only event that will happen from April 17th-19th, 2020 on the official Games Done Quick Twitch channel. The company has pledged that 100% of all CRDQ donations will go directly to Direct Relief. If you're unfamiliar with them, they are a humanitarian aid organization that benefits people affected by poverty or emergencies. Donations can be made directly during the event through the Twitch channel or at GamesDoneQuick.com.
Meanwhile, the organization also had to deliver some sad news. They have has to postpone Summer Games Done Quick. You can read the statement below as they have pushed the event back into mid-to-late August.
Games Done Quick also announced that it will be postponing Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) 2020 due to increasing coronavirus concerns. SGDQ 2020 will take place August 16-23, 2020 in Bloomington, MN benefiting Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières. Registration for the event will open June 7 and close July 20. Games Done Quick is actively monitoring updates from WHO, CDC, local governments, and public health agencies regarding COVID-19 and continuing to assess the situation.
